Our Story

A Brief History of Sisterly Love Charity By Mrs Garmai H. C Kelley.

Sisterly Love Charity was founded after a life-changing experience. One day, my husband woke up to find a lot of dishes in the sink because our kids had neglected their chores the day before. Frustrated, he woke them up at 6 a.m. and told them to get ready to go somewhere. He invited me along, but I politely declined, as it was my day off to sleep in. When they came back, the kids shared that they had never seen anything so sad before—seeing people sleeping on the streets, looking hungry, and standing in line for food. This experience deeply impacted them and sparked a fire in me to do something more.

Motivated by this, my family and I started helping, and I realized I had a calling to do more. During a trip to Africa, I invited children from an orphanage to my open house. Later, while on a travel nurse assignment, Esther and I spent our free time feeding the homeless. In January 2023, after the passing of my mother, I felt a stronger drive to pursue this mission, believing it was her spirit guiding me.

Recognizing the global need, I shared my vision with a group of like-minded women. On April 23, 2023, Sisterly Love was officially founded in Boyd, Texas. Since then, we’ve been serving communities by delivering meals to the elderly, providing school supplies, and feeding the homeless in the DFW area. Our impact spans more than 18 African countries—including Liberia, Zambia, Congo, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Kenya, Togo, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Senegal, Uganda, Egypt, Gambia, and Ethiopia—as well as Caribbean nations such as Jamaica and Trinidad.
